Design Printing Startup Tips

Important Tips for Poster Printing

Poster printing is actually quite simple and straightforward. However, there are several things that people might not understand, especially if they are not in the business of Singapore poster printing. Some of these things are related to the design of the poster, especially when it comes to the choice of colors. In order to be able to design a poster well and go through a smooth and satisfactory poster printing process, here are a few things that you need to know.

1. CMYK or RGB?

If you are designing something that will, later on, go for a printing process, it is highly advised that you design in the CMYK color combination. The CMYK colors are colors that are produced from the basic four colors which are cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. Commonly, computer displays and designing software use RGB colors, which has basic colors of red, green, and blue. These two different color combinations produce colors in a different way, and thus if you design and print with different color combinations, sometimes they won’t appear the same. To avoid this mistake, later on, you have to make sure that you design in CMYK, the same color combination used in printing equipment so that you can design more accurately in terms of colors.

Perhaps some of you have already designed your posters, and you only realized that you designed in RGB. Well, don’t worry. You can change the colors in Photoshop using Gamut Warning Tool to convert RGB colors to CMYK.

2. Resolution

If you’re talking about poster printing, you’re talking about printing in a large size. The mistake many people do is not paying attention to the resolution of the poster design before printing. Ideally, the file that is going to be used for the poster printing process has the resolution of 300 dots per inch or dpi for short. If a file has a resolution that is too low, it will pixelate and it will stretch. The image printed won’t be crisp and sharp, and it won’t look good.

3. Size and choice of material

You have to firstly think about the size of the poster that you desire and then design your poster according to the size and dimension that you have determined. You also have to think about the material that you want to use for poster printing. There are a lot of paper stock types available depending on the uses of your poster. Some materials are better suited outdoors, some indoors, so make sure you check on that with your printing service.

4. Printing service

It is important that you choose the best printing service that is professional and experienced. This really affects the output of the poster that you will get since surely you don’t want a low quality poster that won’t appear nice and possibly won’t be able to attract the audience you are targetting. This may cost you a little more, but it is a good investment to produce high quality posters by using the service of professional printing service.
